Desperately Seeking Susan

My husband says that I don't need to write a SPOILER ALERT for a book that's over fifty years old. But I think it's only fair to warn you, faithful readers, that I recently finished reading The Chronicles of Narnia, and this post concerns the very end of the very last book, The Last Battle.

John Mayer exhorted me this morning to say what I need to say, and he's never steered me wrong before, so what I need to say, readers, is that I'm obsessed with Susan Pevensie. What happened to her? Her whole family (save a dreadful aunt and uncle) all gone in one fell swoop, and she left alone? Now, those of you who subscribe to the allegorical theory of this collective work of Lewis's might suggest - as Andrew's mum did - that we can assume Susan went the way of any other person who ceases to believe. However, I - taking the volumes as a whole rather than focusing only on the seemingly Christlike attributes of Aslan - am not satisfied with that particular analysis. So I'm back to square one. And I've got to tell you: I'm a little angry with Jack for leaving me hanging this way.

What the heck?

Since, therefore, I do not feel Lewis gave Susan a fitting end as he did the rest of her family, you may be assured that I will be writing - erm, righting - this wrong myself. Stay tuned for further details...

You make me want to reread and actually finish the series, because I am curious about what you are talking about and LOVE to analyze stories. Hey, in terms of the Count.. I am now halfway through the book. It took a while to get hooked, but the book caught me. Where are you in the book?

I think I'm on page 60-something. I got sidetracked by Meg Cabot's Queen of Babble... I'll try to catch up with you though. I'm glad you're doing better after your bug.
