I'd like not to be anymore, as my post-two-children tummy looks remarkably similar to my baby's (that is to say: round). The trouble is my mind is motivated to find a form of exercise that works for me. And I'm willing to work it into my daily routine with the boys. However, I'm not willing to fork over money for a gym membership or for a bunch of exercise-related props or DVDs up front. And running is kind of out of the question because I know that if I want to make a change that will last, I need to find a form of exercise that is fun, produces results, and fits into my routine. Running does not sound fun.
In my mind, I'll be able to find a website or some YouTube videos that feature Yoga for beginners. And I'll be able to place a towel on the floor, stretch my body into some odd positions that somehow don't make me feel like an idiot doing strange poses alone in my living room. And as the months pass by and I am able to see my body become more toned, I'll gradually invest in equipment that will maximize my workout experience.
So, peeps, what works for you? How do you make yourself exercise? How does it fit into your routine?
I want to make the change, but I want it to stick, which means I really want to be able to find something I can do, do it, and keep doing it. I don't want something I'll have to change in a week or a month, cuz I know I'll just fall off the wagon and back onto the couch...

I know it might sound crazy, but I had really good results with my kettle bell. You can by them for not so much at Target, and find videos on Youtube that get you started. They kicked my butt in less than 30 minutes, it was pretty fun, and I saw fast results. Should you come to the grand Kozloski fiesta on November 13th, we could do it together!
I have Googled, YouTubed, Wikipediaed and Targeted the kettlebell. How much does yours weigh? And I think we will be at your house soon. The conflict in our schedule has been cancelled...
QUERIDA!!!! I found you ;)! Girlfriend I did the couch to 5K training. I started in August and I ran my first 5k last weekend. AND I ran the entire thing. Here's the catch, you have to have a running buddy. I don't think I would do it without one. So I still run (pushing Griffin at times) alone and sometimes wiht my partner. It's not "fun" during the run necessarily, BUT it gives me the best feeling when it is all done! Maybe because I have NEVER been a runner and I've accomplished something I didn't think I could do? I don't know, but I want this to stick!
I have an email I need to forward to you. But that would require me getting off the couch and looking for the MOPS folder to find your email address.....
I second Krystal's comment. I've tried running in the past, but the only reason it works this time is because I have running buddies. Knowing that a friend is waiting for me at the park gets me off my chair and in my workout clothes whereas I tend to make excuses if it's just Wii Fit waiting for me in the living room.
I agree with you, though, that running is not fun. Not at all fun. But after the 20 or 30 minutes of torture, I feel fantastic. Hope you can find something that works for you too!
I can't really give good advice because I've never had a baby - but I lost my freshman 30 by walking everyday (because, I just hate to run! :)
You'd be surprised what 45 minutes of walking a day can do - and perhaps you can push a double stroller and add some resistance ;)
At any rate - good luck!
I really think kettlebells are fun. I started with a 15lb, it was hard at first, but I was surprised how fast I made progress. I have done my share of running, and the thing is, I actually like it, but it just takes sooooo long to do, both in the time it takes to complete a workout and in the time it takes to see results. With that said, I just did my first run since baby #2 a couple of days ago, and it felt good. For whatever reason, in my mind running is a pillar of fitness. I guess you could attribute that to growing up in the eighties.
Q, it would be awesome if you guys could come! Know that we have plenty of space available, at my house or my parents, so you can stay the night with no need for a hotel.
