A few months ago, I asked my ObGyn a whole bank of questions about breastfeeding. In response, she told an amusing anecdote about a time she and her husband went out to dinner shortly after the birth of her first son. My doc had one glass of wine, and the baby was wired for the entire night. The point of the story was that the only way to know how drinking alcohol will affect a baby who's nursing is to try it and see what happens. So I did. And Gabriel woke up to eat about every hour until about six this morning, when I finally broke down and got Andrew to give him some formula. Then around eight, Mommy felt a new let-down, fed baby, and he's only just now (around eleven) waking up to eat.
::Sigh::
I love being Gabriel's Mommy. He's precious and sweet and Andrew and I have been and will continue to be blessed beyond measure by having him. But man, this is hard work.
P.S.: No more wine for Mama.
